Hands-on carpentry workshops where children learn to measure, cut, sand, and assemble real wood projects β safely, with expert instructors, in climate-controlled studios.
Book a Try-Me Carpentry SessionLooking for a carpentry workshop in Dubai or Abu Dhabi for your child? StuDIYo Lab runs hands-on carpentry workshops for kids aged 5 and up β taught by qualified instructors who specialize in child-safe woodworking. Every session ends with a real, finished project your child built and can take home.
Unlike screen-based after-school programs, carpentry teaches a tangible skill: kids measure, mark, saw, drill, sand, and finish a project from raw wood. They leave with focus, patience, problem-solving habits β and a piece of furniture, a toy, or a sign they can show off at school.
A typical 90-minute carpentry workshop at StuDIYo Lab walks each child through six stages of a real woodworking build:
Carpentry projects are scaled to age and skill so every child works on something both safe and challenging:
In a city where most kids' activities happen indoors and on screens, a carpentry workshop is a rare chance to build real, lasting skills with your hands. Studies have repeatedly shown hands-on woodworking improves focus, fine motor coordination, spatial reasoning, and self-confidence in children β all while being completely screen-free.
Carpentry also teaches what no app can: that mistakes have consequences, that careful measurement saves rework, and that finishing what you start feels good. For a deeper look at how hands-on workshops compare to other indoor options, see our parents' guide to the best indoor activities for kids in Dubai.

At StuDIYo Lab, kids can start carpentry workshops from age 5. Our youngest carpenters use child-safe tools and work on simpler projects like name signs, picture frames, and rocket slot-togethers. Older kids progress to power tools, joinery, and complex builds under expert supervision. Teens 13+ work on advanced projects including pinball machines, F1 cars, and custom furniture.
Yes. Every carpentry session at StuDIYo Lab follows a Safety-First methodology: low instructor-to-student ratios (typically 1 instructor per 6β8 children), age-appropriate tools, mandatory safety briefings, and protective equipment provided on site. Our instructors are trained in child workshop safety and supervise every cut, drill, and sand. We have run carpentry workshops for thousands of children with an industry-leading safety record.
StuDIYo Lab runs carpentry workshops at two locations: Times Square Center on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, and the third floor of Abu Dhabi Mall in Al Zahiyah. Both studios are climate-controlled and open 7 days a week from 9am to 8pm. The Dubai studio is easy to reach from anywhere in the city via Sheikh Zayed Road, with parking available in the Times Square Center underground garage.
Projects vary by age and skill level. Beginners (ages 5β8) build simple items like name signs, candle holders, picture frames, and birdhouses. Intermediate carpenters (ages 9β12) build phone stands, marble mazes, pencil holders, and slot-together puzzles. Advanced students (13+) take on F1 cars, pinball machines, jewelry boxes, and joinery projects. Every child takes their finished build home β there are no display-only projects.
A standard "Try-Me" carpentry workshop is 90 minutes β enough time to complete a small project from raw wood to finished piece. Skill-path classes run 2 hours weekly over a 6 to 12 week curriculum. Full-day camps during school holidays run 6 hours per day with multiple builds, snacks, and a lunch break. Birthday party packages run 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on the project chosen.
Pricing depends on the project and session type. A standalone Try-Me carpentry session typically starts from 150 AED per child, with weekly skill-path packages and birthday party group rates available at lower per-child pricing. Holiday camps are priced per day or per week. All prices include wood, tools, hardware, finishes, protective equipment, and the take-home project. Contact us for current pricing on a specific workshop.
Yes β carpentry-themed birthday parties are one of our most popular packages. Each party includes a private workshop room, all materials and tools, expert instructor, party space, and a custom carpentry project for every guest to build and take home. Parties are available at both our Dubai and Abu Dhabi studios for groups of 6 to 20 children, ages 5 and up.
Yes. Every project built in a StuDIYo Lab carpentry workshop is your childβs to keep. Take-home projects are central to our teaching philosophy β kids leave each session with a real, finished piece they built themselves, which they can show off at school or use at home. Finished pieces are sanded, painted (if requested), and ready to take home at the end of class.
Closed-toe shoes are required for all carpentry workshops. Otherwise, comfortable clothes that can handle a bit of sawdust or paint are best β long sleeves are optional. We provide aprons, safety glasses, and any other protective equipment on site. Tie back long hair before the session starts, and avoid loose jewelry.
Our core programs are designed for kids and teens, but we run adult and family carpentry workshops on request β including parent-and-child Try-Me sessions where you can build a project together. Contact us to ask about an adult woodworking session at either our Dubai or Abu Dhabi studio.
Parents are welcome to stay and watch from our viewing area, or you can book a parent-and-child session where you build together side by side. Many parents drop off and use the time to shop or relax at Times Square Center or Abu Dhabi Mall β both venues have plenty of cafes and stores within walking distance of the studio.
Yes. We run dedicated holiday carpentry camps during all major UAE school breaks, including winter, spring, summer, and the autumn half-term. Holiday camps are full-day programs that combine carpentry with metal casting, electronics, and design technology β kids tackle multiple projects across the week. Holiday camps sell out fast, so book early.
