Weekly hands-on woodworking classes for children aged 5 and up. Real wood, real tools, real projects β taught by expert instructors at our Times Square Center studio.
Book a Try-Me ClassStuDIYo Lab runs the most established woodworking classes for kids in Dubai: weekly sessions where children learn real woodworking skills, build real projects, and take their finished work home. Our students range from total beginners working on their first phone stand to teenagers building pinball machines and F1 cars.
Whether you're looking for a one-off Try-Me session, a recurring weekly woodworking class, or a full holiday camp, our programs are structured by age and skill so every child learns at the right pace.
Never picked up a saw before? Our 90-minute Try-Me class is the perfect introduction. Each child is paired with an instructor, walked through tool safety, and guided through a complete small project β from raw wood to finished, sanded, and signed piece. No prior experience needed. By the end of the class, every student has built something they can take home and show off.
For kids who fall in love with woodworking on their first session β and most do β we offer structured weekly classes that build skills progressively over 6 to 12 weeks. Topics covered include:
Students who complete a skill path leave with a portfolio of 4 to 8 projects and skills they'll use for life. For more on how our progressive woodworking classes build long-term skill, see our blog post on precision woodworking and STEM.

In a city where most kids' activities run on screens or in air-conditioned play areas, woodworking is a rare hands-on skill that builds focus, fine motor coordination, and confidence. Children who attend woodworking classes regularly show measurable improvements in patience, problem-solving, and independent work.

StuDIYo Lab runs weekly woodworking classes for kids at our Times Square Center studio on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, and at our Abu Dhabi Mall studio. Both locations are climate-controlled, fully equipped, and open 7 days a week from 9am to 8pm. The Dubai studio has on-site parking via the Times Square Center underground garage.
Our beginner woodworking classes start with the fundamentals: tool safety, how to measure and mark wood, how to sand and finish, and how to assemble simple joints. By the end of the first class, every student has built a complete project β usually a small phone stand, name sign, or picture frame. No prior experience is needed and parents are welcome to watch from our viewing area.
Standalone Try-Me sessions are 90 minutes. Weekly skill-path classes run 2 hours per session and follow a structured 6 to 12 week curriculum. Holiday camps run full days (6 hours) with multiple builds per day, snacks, and a lunch break. Birthday party packages run 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on the project.
Our youngest woodworking class students are 5 years old. We have age-appropriate tracks for ages 5β8, 9β12, and 13+. Tools, projects, and supervision ratios are scaled to each age group, so every child works on something safe and challenging. We also run adult and parent-and-child sessions on request.
No. Every woodworking class at StuDIYo Lab includes all wood, tools, hardware, finishes, and protective equipment (aprons, safety glasses). Students just bring themselves and wear closed-toe shoes. Every project they build is theirs to take home at the end of the class β there are no display-only or rental projects.
Group classes are kept small β usually 6 to 8 children per instructor β so every student gets close attention on tool use, technique, and project decisions. We also offer 1-on-1 woodworking sessions for kids who want to work on a custom project at their own pace, or for children with special needs who benefit from individualized instruction.
A standalone Try-Me woodworking class typically starts from 150 AED per child. Multi-week skill-path packages are priced per term, with discounts for siblings booking together. Holiday camps are priced per day or per week. All prices include wood, tools, hardware, finishes, protective equipment, and the take-home project. Both. The 90-minute Try-Me session is a perfect single-class introduction with no commitment β you can come once and never come back. If your child enjoys it (and most do), you can roll into our weekly skill-path classes which run as 6 to 12 week structured programs. Drop-in single classes are also available for skill-path students who canβt commit to a full term.
Three things. First, every class ends with a real take-home project β not a kit, not a worksheet, an actual woodworking build. Second, our instructors are specifically trained in child workshop teaching, not just woodworking. Third, we run a structured progression from beginner to advanced so kids can grow with us across years instead of jumping between unrelated activities.
Yes. Our studios are open 7 days a week from 9am to 8pm, so we run weekend morning, weekend afternoon, weekday after-school, and weekday evening woodworking classes. Most weekly skill-path students attend on Saturdays or weekday evenings after school. Try-Me single sessions can be booked for almost any open slot subject to availability.
Yes β siblings often attend the same class and we offer sibling discounts on most packages. If the siblings are different ages, we typically place them in the same group session and assign appropriately scaled projects to each so neither feels held back or overwhelmed. Parents tell us this is one of the best things about our classes for multi-kid families.
Yes. StuDIYo Lab has a dedicated special needs program with 1-on-1 instruction, sensory-aware project planning, and instructors trained in working with neurodiverse children. Many of our most rewarding woodworking sessions have been with children on the autism spectrum or with ADHD, who often find hands-on building uniquely calming and motivating.
