Transforming curiosity into confidence through hands-on workshop and design technology.
Book a WorkshopWoodworking is more than just a craft; it's a gateway to developing critical life skills. At StuDIYo, our woodworking workshops for kids are designed to be safe, engaging, and deeply educational.
One of the most common questions parents ask is about safety. Our "Safety-First" methodology ensures that every child respects the tools and understands the environment. Under expert supervision, children learn to use hammers, saws, and drills safely, building discipline and awareness.
From our Tinker Shed workshops to specialized Skills Paths, we offer a variety of programs tailored to different age groups and skill levels. Whether it's a weekend workshop or a holiday camp, your child will find a project that inspires them.
Make their next birthday unforgettable with a hands-on woodworking party.
Learn More βYes β woodworking is one of the safest hands-on activities available to kids when taught correctly. At StuDIYo Lab we use age-appropriate tools, low instructor-to-student ratios (typically 1 to 6β8), mandatory safety briefings, and protective equipment provided on site. Younger children (5β8) use only hand tools, while older kids progress to assisted power tools. Our instructors supervise every cut, drill, and sand.
Children can start woodworking at StuDIYo Lab from age 5. Our youngest carpenters use child-safe hand tools and work on simple projects like name signs, picture frames, and rocket slot-togethers. As kids grow, projects and tools scale up: ages 9β12 use power drills and bench sanders, and teens 13+ work with the full range of woodworking equipment.
Tool selection scales with age. Younger children use Japanese-pull saws (very safe), hand drills, sanding blocks, and mallets. Intermediate students are introduced to power drills, bench sanders, and assisted use of power saws. Teens use the full set of woodworking tools β always under instructor supervision and after passing tool-safety briefings.
Beyond the obvious craft skills (measuring, cutting, joining, finishing), kids learn focus, patience, problem-solving, spatial reasoning, and the confidence that comes from finishing a real project with their own hands. Most parents notice the biggest change in attention span and self-direction within the first few weeks of regular sessions.
A standalone Try-Me woodworking session typically starts from 150 AED per child. Multi-week skill-path packages are priced per term, with sibling discounts available. Birthday party group rates and holiday camp full-week prices work out lower per child. All prices include wood, tools, hardware, finishes, protective equipment, and the take-home project.
Closed-toe shoes are required. Comfortable clothes that can handle a bit of sawdust or paint are best. Long sleeves are optional. Tie back long hair before the session and avoid loose jewelry. We provide aprons, safety glasses, and any other protective equipment on site.
StuDIYo Lab runs woodworking workshops at two studios in the UAE: Times Square Center on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, and the third floor of Abu Dhabi Mall in Al Zahiyah. Both studios are climate-controlled and open 7 days a week from 9am to 8pm. The Dubai studio has on-site parking via the Times Square Center underground garage.
Yes β we run dedicated woodworking holiday camps during all major UAE school breaks including winter, spring, summer, and the autumn half-term. Holiday camps are full-day programs combining woodworking with metal casting, electronics, and design technology. Kids tackle multiple projects across the week. These camps sell out fast.
Parents are welcome to stay and watch from our viewing area. We also offer parent-and-child Try-Me sessions where you can build a project together side by side. Many parents drop off and use the time to shop or relax β both Times Square Center and Abu Dhabi Mall have plenty of cafes within walking distance.
A Try-Me session is a single 90-minute introductory class with no commitment β perfect for first-timers. A skill-path program is a structured 6 to 12 week course where students build a portfolio of projects and progress through measured skill levels. Most students start with a Try-Me, then roll into a skill-path if they enjoy it.
