I never thought I had a creative bone in my body. Growing up, I was always more interested in mathematics and science, believing that art and crafts were simply not for me. It wasn't until my daughter came home excited about a woodworking workshop she'd attended at school—a StuDIYo program—that I ever considered trying it myself.
"Mom, you should come to the parent-child day," she insisted. To make her happy, I agreed, fully expecting to awkwardly fumble through the session while the other parents created masterpieces.
Walking into StuDIYo's workshop space that Saturday morning, I was immediately struck by the warm atmosphere. The scent of wood filled the air, and the sound of gentle laughter made it feel less like a classroom and more like a community gathering.
The instructor, Khalid, approached me with a friendly smile. When I confessed my lack of experience and creativity, he simply said, "Everyone starts somewhere. Trust the process."
